  1. What a fantastic end to the “hashtags and eggs” (with bacon and grits!!!) series. So many wonderful comments about Nickey; you could feel the love and respect. The intrepid “Posco Trio” have done us all proud!

Happy Holidays and I know you’ll return in the new year bigger and better than ever before!

    1. Nigel,

One of my FAVORITE-OF-ALL-TIME breakfasts is scrambled eggs, CRISPY bacon and grits. I crumple the bacon up in the grits (with lots of butter & salt), add the scrambled eggs, and pig out! It was a regular Christmas breakfast with Mama and Gloria, until Mama was too blind to cook. I miss the time and the breakfast dearly. Sadly, that was enough food, so the hash browns weren’t needed. LOL!

I have missed hearing from you, and am glad to see your comment. Nickey is very dear to me, and I really wanted us to give her the love and respect she deserves. I’m glad you think we succeeded!

      Happy Christmas!

      1. Hi Alice! Happy New Year! I’m so sorry I haven’t visited this page in a while: no excuses, bad bad me!
That breakfast must bring back so many sweet memories for you. Foods and aromas do that! It also sounds like the kind of breakfast that fortifies you before a long country walk!

Those years with Nickey would be unforgettable for you. Whilst you never pull your punches with your honesty about her, to be the drummer who locked in with her “Hammond grooves” must’ve been magic! Your right foot had a daily workout!

All our best to you and Gloria, let’s hope ‘22 sees a positive step in the right direction for us all! ❤️?❤️

    2. I’m on my third listen to this episode. Lol. Love Nickeys tunes, but booooyyyyy am I needing a get behind Fanny fix!!! Can’t wait for a new episode. Hope you all had a great holiday season!

  2. Merry Christmas gang! That was a great way to end the year of poscos.
Nickey’s contribution to Fanny and rock n roll in general is huge.I hope she gets involved in these podcasts in 2022.That would totally rock! Thanks for sharing the music, the stories, and the laughter.CRANK THAT SHIT UP!

    1. Hi Guy,

I couldn’t agree with you more, and I loved that we were able to honor Nickey in the only way we could. As far as her joining us, Kristen said, “Never say never!” We continue to hope!

Happy Holidays! (said while cranking that shit up!)

      Alice

  3. Hey! I meant every word of that!
Another great posco! Hope you guys have a fantastic holiday season. Looking forward to January.
I’m glad new avenues of exposure are introducing more fans to the magic of Fanny. Wishing you all tremendous success!
    Peace,
    E

  4. I have been listening to Fanny since Charity Ball came out so I consider myself an OG, no, OF? yeah an original Fanster, whatever, anyway… having listened to the Podcasts focusing on one member, it is amazing how each member brings out the best in the others. Fanny just keeps getting better and better in my 2021 ears. It’s so cool to go back and listen again and just focus on some aspect or other. They are so worth a deep listening. And, they are SO worth and SO overdue to be in the Hall of Fame. Not being in doesn’t diminish their worth in any way, it would just be nice to be recognized for being influential in the history of music. I just really wish I had taken more pictures and could remember more about seeing them the one time I saw them live. Oh well.

    1. Hi Elizabeth,

I, too, wish for you that you’d taken more pictures, or had stronger memories of the live performance you attended. I’d love to hear what you remember!

I thought for a second (before I got to the second line) that your “OF” meant “Old Fart,” which is something of honor I bestow on myself and my old friends….LOL! But, I like “original Fanster” better.

I’m so glad you’re enjoying the podcasts and the deep dives (listens) as well. I can’t believe how differently I hear our music with 2021 ears. It just stuns me, and can bring me to tears…

      Be well and Happy Christmas!

      Alice

    2. Greetings from balmy NYC –
Don’t want Fanny in the RnRHoF. Would tarnish ’em.
One good thing would come of it. Would set ’em up
      for life re: coin.

  5. To Dear Alice and Byron –
Am hung up on the situation with Beat-Club. Can’t get over the fact that they will not
allow Fanny to profit from their OWN performance. I’ve noticed that Fanny has been
granted permission to post clips from their Beat-Club performance on their website
but not to issue a CD. Since Beat-Club holds the copyright to both the audio and
video rights to the performance this seems to be inconsistent, Was wondering if
Fanny could therefor legally issue a DVD of their performance from which they
could receive remuneration. If they previously received permission to display a
visual representation of their performance, why not in a manner from which they
could profit? Or does the permission preclude Fanny from charging for the
performance? Why not use the copyright laws against the individuals they were
    designed to protect?
Merry Christmas and a happy new year to all 3 of you!

    1. We do not have direct permission to display the videos on the website, but as long as we are not monetizing the videos (advertising, etc.), then it is legal for us to have the videos on the website as this is an official Fanny website. The Beat-Club is only interested in money, so as long as we do not charge for or monetize the videos, then we’re in the clear. If you will note… we cannot put the versions of the videos I created up on YouTube via the Fanny channel. Then the Beat-Club clamps on it as that would impose on their monetization of the videos on YouTube. It’s gets convoluted quickly.

To obtain the rights to the videos is outlandishly high from the Beat-Club and I find this rather appalling as technically, the record company should hold the rights to any and all performances that Fanny did, which should include these videos. But it was the early ’70s when all of this went down and who could have foreseen a day when people around the world could sit at a computer screen and view videos of Fanny.

Personally, I would not want to release a physical Blu-ray or DVD of the videos, but merely have them streaming on the website. Replicating, packaging, and shipping discs is an expensive proposition, especially for video.

      1. Dear Byron –
Neglected to mention in my original missive: Is there an expiration on the copyright? Half
a century (hard to believe) has passed since the performances.
Am going to send another email to Beat-Club protesting their non business sense in overcharging
Fanny for the right (of both parties) to profit from their OWN performance.Just another example of the
men in suits lording over women.
        Take care –

        1. If my memory serves, copyrights on creative works are protected for 95 years from the date of publication, so the copyrights will not become public domain until 2065 or so. (This applies to works created before 1978) In 2065 I’ll be 108 years old. 🙂

We appreciate fans bugging the Beat-Club about this issue. I doubt anything will happen, but at least it let’s them know people aren’t happy with them.

  7. Hi Byron –
Could you do your restorative magic on the 4 Beat-Club tunes from 1972 for this website like you did for the 7 from 1971? Surprised you haven’t had requests for that by the score. Thanking you in front.

  8. You gals wanted a keyboard player who wrote. Did you know you all were getting a Nickey in sheep’s clothing???
As gifted a songwriter next to none. The right band brought those songs to life in the only logical way possible.
I am self-taught on keyboards…probably 50+ years now. Yeah, I’m older than dirt itself. I have written songs for 40 years. I’m a hack. I freely admitted.
Never have I heard someone as talented as Nickey Barclay having taught herself how to play keyboards. All I have to say is she was brilliant. So many different styles, along with June’s and Jean’s songs and the covers gave FANNY a personality like no others.
    Sincerely meant.
